I’ve recently gone from temporarily underemployed to temporarily overemployed. This has been, for the most part a positive development, but it is making me SO BAD at having thoughts about anything but generating shareholder value.
Here are some posts I could write. If we’re on phone-number-exchanging terms, you can have any of these as an out-of-breath voice message shouted over several car alarms.
Against “gut issues” as a big homogenous blob
Index fund investors still have to predict the future
I went to grad school in an anti AI cult (clickbait)
My year of pro gambling
Is Western culture’s body hatred the long shadow of Plato?
What the public should know about incest and its survivors
Great web fiction from the Tumblr scene
Why I can’t take any moral or ideological positions on capitalism seriously
I love my vibecoded poetry recommendation engine
Thoroughly fact-checking an antivax post (already did the fact check, there’s just so much going on I just don’t even know where to start the writeup)
Spaghetti in your brain? It’s more likely than you think (The Useful Part of David Schnarch’s Brain Talk)
Intuitive eating doesn’t work without a good starting point, you absolute fucking moron
Possible genetic correlate of seed oil intolerance
Oppression or Life-Complication?
People with [these common traits] aren’t going to get into Effective Altruism, stop bothering us!
In a similar vein, I have a lot of posts about rationalism. I think there are ways that rationalism as a movement/ideology selects ideal victims for manipulators (topical), empowers people to escape bad situations but must itself be transcended to flourish, and also that they have way more faith in measurement than I could sustain after working in science. But I feel conflicted about ragging on them because a) everyone does it, b) they called bitcoin, COVID, and LLMs correctly and I’ve done fuck all, c) criticism makes them horny, and d) I want everybody to think probabilistically way more, not less. For now, I will sit on that material until Jane Street starts an internship for 2nd graders.

Hmm, 8 & 11 seem interesting. My default method of information-absorption nowadays is reading blog posts, but I am curious about the alternative aesthetic qualities of an out-of-breath voice message shouted over several car alarms.
